Who I Am Professionally

I value honesty, humility, conscientiousness, and quality in work. I believe in leadership-from-the-front, in training the next generation of experts, and in sharing knowledge to advance peers rather than hoard advantage.

I place a high premium on teamwork, a helpful disposition, and maintaining a growth mindset. I enjoy learning for its own sake, value resilience and organization, and try not to take myself so seriously that I forget the importance of whimsy and good humour.

I do my best to live according to these preferences.

What I Care About Intellectually

In short:

  • Interesting, well-formed, and forward-looking ideas

  • Honesty and concordance with high-quality data and evidence

  • Curiosity over outrage, humility over proselytization, kindness over condescension

  • A willingness to examine and overcome indoctrination, regardless of the ideology involved

  • A desire to rid oneself of even the most alluring or useful delusions and illusions

  • Openness to meeting people where they are, rather than where one wishes they were

Why I Have Chosen to Write Publicly

I don’t necessary know, or want to worry about, who consumes what I write or what they think of it.

I’ve reached a point in life where I have ideas, and it seems worthwhile to share them on the off chance someone finds use or inspiration in them.

I don’t consider myself especially important or authoritative. I’m simply someone with a rented web server, modest web development skills, and an interest in thinking carefully and honestly in public.

Who is Jordan Louis?

If “you are what you repeatedly do,” then Jordan Louis works primarily as an implementation-focused analytics engineer, with experience in analytics architecture, measurement strategy, and web implementation. He also collaborates with local Norfolk County small businesses on web development projects and occasionally produces far too many UV resin prints for friends and hobby groups.

Outside of work, his interests include model building and painting, strategy and RPG video games, tabletop and collectible card games, science fiction, fantasy, philosophy, an irresponsible volume of wordplay, and the ongoing management of one or more domestic cats.

He also volunteers with a local political organization as its financial officer, ensuring donations are receipted properly and annual filings are completed on time.

How to Engage

Professionally? LinkedIn’s a good bet: https://linkedin.com/in/jordanlouis

Personally? Let’s connect on LinkedIn first and see how it goes.

Cold calling or sales? I’ll save us both some time and say upfront that I’m generally not interested, and I’m unlikely to have (or want) the authority to make purchasing decisions.
