Thoughts on Paris

Even as we are tempted to stoke the fires of vengeance and retribution for those innocent human beings murdered in Paris today, each with a life, a history, and people who love them, let us remember never to sink to the level of these cowards who killed for the sake of their own twisted satisfaction, even in our efforts to ensure our own safety.

Let us never murder innocents in the name of our own slain, for that would be the truest and most complete triumph of evil.

Becoming blasé about killing innocents, accidentally or not, and cultivating an attitude of apathy toward the sanctity of human life is itself another threat to our civil society. The philosophical and moral underpinnings of our society are just as important as its physical security.

Vive la France libre et forte. Liberté, fraternité, egalité toujours pour tout le monde.
